Last December I needed a small surgical procedure at our local hospital. All went just fine and all is well. The date was Dec. 9, 2008. Just before the procedure I was weighed – 348 Lbs. on the Dr’s office scales <Yikes!>. I began reducing the quantity of food I eat. For example where for a lunch I would have 2 sandwhichs now I have 1, where I would eat a hardy full supper (dinner plate) now I eat the same meal in lessor quantity on a lunch plate. I’ve eliminated ice cream, cookies and soda pop. I’ve kept in caffienated beverages e.g.: Tea, Soda Pop and such. I’m limiting the soda pop intake. I still keep on and enjoy hard candies 3 or 4 times per week. Trebor’s mixed fruit (lime is my fav!), Glacier Mints, Scotch Mints, Humbugs, Maple Fudge etc. I also eat 2 pieces of fruit, min., daily. Last thing at night I share an apple nearly every night with Blue. And at breakfast or lunch time 3 or 4 times per week I enjoy a banana. I’ve been tracking my weight loss at my monthly follow up appointment with my doctor.
- Dec. 9, 2008 – 348 lbs.
- Feb. 17, 2009 – 334 Lbs for a net loss of: 13.5 Lbs.
- Mar. 6th, 2009 (Special Apt.) – 327 Lbs. for a net loss of 7.0 lbs and 20 Lbs overall.
The only other thing I’ve done is begin walking 20 – 30 minutes per day 3 or 4 times per week (average).
In the past I’ve tried several diet plans including: Dr. Atkins, Herbal Magic, Weight Watchers etc. With all of them I’ve lost some weight but put it all back on and more when I’ve stopped. My present plan is to adopt what I do today as a whole life plan. And to gradually add in additional exercise, when I’m able, i.e.: aerobics, swimming, etc. I’ll keep updating this as I progress.
